2025 White Box prototype testing is officially underway!

If you are unfamiliar with the White Box testing program, we had the Titleist Golf Ball R&D team answer the most frequently asked questions here: https://www.titleist.com/learning-lab/titleist-expertise/25-pro-v1-white-box-testing

We have had thousands of responses to the R&D survey, but for those of you who received White Box protos in the mail or at a Team Titleist event, it’s time to share your thoughts with the rest of the community.

What performance characteristics have you been impressed with while testing the 2025 prototype Pro V1 and/or Pro V1x?

*Please note: we want to keep this thread focused on prototype feedback. All replies not speaking to prototype golf ball performance will be moved or removed for the benefit of the Team Titleist community.

I have had the opportunity to do this, and I was an absolute blast! The first, I took the sleeves to Pinehurst and played Number two!! Even the caddy looked bewildered. Love the chance to do this again and will register. thank you

I only played the pro V1 & gave the pro V1 X to my son because that’s ball he hits. I felt there was more distance and feel off the club face was sweet. I’m not sure how you can improve from the old pro V1 but you have.
  4. I love the new ProV1x Balls...a definite upgrade!!

The white box prototypes are the V and the X. While the left dash would be rated as a 2019 version, it doesn’t appear to be announced at the Shriner’s this week or known in advance to be part of the PGA show announcements in January.
I might even hazard a guess if it wasn’t for marketing against the competition, the V and the X releases might not be on a biannual cycle, either. As is, the left dash fills a niche - how much do the pros using it want or need a change?

I have had a chance to test the new X version. It took me all of 4 holes to get used to the ball and notice a lot of good changes to it. The ball launches higher for me than the 2023 version yet holds it line really well. I noticed the ball is softer feeling through the bag as well. Not as loud off a putter.

Perhaps a little more distance but not much, I was still hitting the same clubs for the yardages but with a higher ball flight the angle of decent was much steeper coming into greens. This allowed me to be a little more aggressive knowing I was not going to get as much release from the ball than the 23 version.

I have no idea how Titleist keeps making a better ball, but this is by far the best ball I have played and works so well for my game.

I have not tested the V as of yet given I am a X player but will at some point.

Absolutely echo everything in this comment.
Excellent results with the prototype X.

I've been playing the black 25 Prototype for about 3 weeks and the biggest difference I've noticed between the prior generation is the cover durability. I can easily get a few rounds with one ball with no visible changes to the cover as long as I can keep it away from a cart path or tree trunk

As for its performance off the tee and around the greens, I didn't notice any huge changes and I appreciated that.
  10. The prototype ball absolutely RIPS on partial wedge shots! Fly it to my target and stop it on a dime... nice!
  11. Had the chance to test the 2025 ProV1 and ProV1x prototype balls. These carry over all the incredible performance of the previous model and plus more! The feel and durability of the new model is a definite upgrade. Looking forward to their official release so I can buy them in stores.
  12. I had a really similar experience.

I had durability issues with 2 of the red number balls. I had to take 2 of the 3 balls out of play.
  13. I have never been picked for a product prototype testing, so when these showed up at my house I was pumped. I was even more blown away using the ball. They definitely felt different even from pulling them out of the box. They definitely have great workability in all aspects of the game and even felt great putting (First time ever having 14 1 putts in a round!) I am excited for these to be released!

I enjoyed what I felt was an improvement in green side spin and I seemed to be hitting them straighter. I figured the feeling was real when I lost the ball slightly of the fairway and was p.o. because it was lost and now I was down a ball.

    Hi Titleist Team,

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to test the “25 Prototype” ball.

I took the ball out to my home course as soon as I received them in the mail.

I currently use the 2024 Pro V1s. I instantly noticed that the Prototype ball flew straighter and slightly higher than normal. I was able to use the bill for two full rounds with little damage to the ball. It was extremely durable.

I also used the QR code in the box to fill out the ball review!

    Sincerely,
    Scott Haddock
  16. I've played the Pro V 1 25 Prototype for the last 1.5 weeks. Thank you for including me in the testing!

Two things that stand out for me are 1) durability - I feel like I can play it 3-4 rounds with no difference in performance and 2) feel - I like the enhanced feel around the green...it feels like the ball hangs on the face a bit longer on short shots.

Overall, really nice improvements from the prior generation.

I know this is about ball testing, but the GT line is by far the largest improvement I have seen in Titleist woods EVER! I have both the GT2 and 3 driver (not knowing if I could get away with hitting the 3 as my gamer everyday). The playability of the GT3 is a significant improvement and opens up that model to so many players. Great work!
  17. I have never been involved in a trial of Prototype balls, but I was truly excited to test the Prov1 Prototypes. I have been using TP5x and TP5 for white a while and this ball performed better than the current models available from other vendors including the cally Chrome Tour, srxn , Bridgestone and TM . I saw great spin from Short Irons and around the greens without the loss of distance on the longer irons and woods. I am seriously looking at switching now to the ProV1s. Thank you.

  18. I recently had the opportunity to test the white box 25prototype titleist golf ball and loved it. Im a 12 handicap golfer and loved the feel of the ball I tested. Felt soft and responded well around the greens. The durability of the cover was great, no scuffs when I was able to stay in the grass. The ball seemed to have a slightly lower ball flight than the normal TP5+ I play. Loved the performance off the tee and around the green. I don't get consistent spin around the green, but this ball seemed to stop pretty fast for me on chips. I would consider playing it in the future. Not sure it is was a proV1 or proV1x.
  19. I tried both versions. I’m personally not a fan of the Pro V1x. I use the Pro V1. This prototype Pro V1 performs perfectly. There are so many golf balls out there that folks can choose from, but I have not found a ball that performs as well, durable, soft but not mushy, and goes farther. No, they are not cheap. That’s probably my biggest beef, but as long as I don’t hit the ball OB, or in a lake, I can use this ball for a really long time before I have to swap it out.
Although the Pro V1x is not my preference, I know it’s a good ball for those that like that feel and ball flight, and this new prototype is perfect for that. I gave one of them to my friend that will only use Pro V1x, and he thought it was fantastic, so the same people that are going to buy a Pro V1x, will continue to do so. Most Pro V1 series players, will continue to use those balls because they are basically top-shelf. I doubt it’s possible to outperform a Pro V1 series ball. It is, and will continue to be the #1 ball in golf. I appreciate being able to test the ball. If there is a prototype AVX, I would love to be able to test that as well.

Thanks for the opportunity to test the new balls. I played them at my course on two separate occasions. Both with similar weather conditions. I compared the Pro V1 to the TM TP5x. I have to say that I was surprised with the distance and control. You have sold me on trying them for next season.
  21. First time I received a white box (or sleeve). Not being the lowest handicapper on here, I was a bit concerned about building meaningful feedback with only three balls. That could last me half a round or 10 rounds; just depends what swing shows up that day.

Glad to report that I did get some good use out of the blacks. I do like the higher launch angle. Durability was also a plus. Distance was the same, but a bit more spin on shorter shots.

I noted that the balls felt a little bit heavier. Did not affect flight, but noticed this while putting. Easy adjustment after a little bit of warmup on the green.

All in all, much the same, but minor differences that combined to create a better ball, IMO.
  22. I'm still in the testing mode. A couple of days after receiving them, I went to our Club and played nine holes, hitting on each of the prototypes and one of my own current Prov1X's. It may be because my swing speed is so low that the difference is not as evident as it is for others, but there is definitely an improvement. The ProV1x is still consistently longer for me. I have tried a couple of lower compression balls, but the ProV1x still comes out way on top in distance and overall performance. The sound of the clubface inspires confidence in the ball and flight of both balls is so much better than other balls I have tried. Maybe I'm just a Titleist junkie, but I have complete confidence in the balls. When I hear that sound, I don't even have to look up; I know I've hit a good shot.

The rest of my bag is Titleist, too. Holden, one of the fitters, set me up with a new fairway and two hybrids this year, I'm hitting these three so much better now, and I use all three a lot!!
  23. First things I noticed (individual to me obviously) were feel. Both the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x felt slightly firmer (not in a bad way). Distance seemed to be slightly further for both balls through the bag. Greenside spin seemed to have increased (even in wet conditions). Flight seemed consistent with the 2023 version (though slightly not as "balloony"). I would give this a huge caveat as I play at elevation in the Denver area.

Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to see how the balls respond in windy conditions. Would love to see how the new Pro V1x does in the wind so hopefully will have a chance to see. I've got an 18 month old so getting out to play isn't easy
  24. Love the new balls. Shared the ProV1 with my son and he really liked them. The feel off the club and putter face is exceptional.
  25. Today was my first opportunity to use the new balls. I really liked them as I felt with the irons the ball came off of the club very nicely and very accurately with the proper amount of bite. I also really liked the way it felt with my driver. As far as putting the greens had just been over seeded and sanded. I will respond as soon as I can putt on normal greens.
