Which Titleist golf ball is best for my swing speed?
There is a lot of "noise" out there about swing speed, but choosing your golf ball based on your swing speed is a flawed approach. All of our golf balls at Titleist are designed to perform for all swing speeds, with every club, on every shot. So, what do we recommend you focus on when selecting a golf ball if swing speed is a non-factor? We want you to focus on the performance the golf ball delivers on shots around the green and your approach shots into the green. This is where you have the greatest opportunity to improve your score and where golf ball performance is most important.

How do I select the right golf equipment?

Should I get fit to determine the best golf ball for my game?
Absolutely! At Titleist, we have found that the golf ball is the most overlooked piece of equipment in an amateur golfer’s bag. Because you use the golf ball on every shot, it's crucial to play the ball that best fits your game. In the Titleist fitting approach, our first step is always to examine the golf ball and determine which model will help a player to shoot his or her lowest scores possible. Next in the list of importance are the scoring clubs. We'll look at the wedges and hybrids/irons and dial those in so that your good swings result in more greens hit and more opportunities to make pars and birdies. Lastly, we'll look at the driver and fairway metals, using SureFit® hosel technology to optimize your launch conditions and ball flight for the golf ball model that you play.
Which Titleist driver is best for women golfers?
Different players will require different design solutions to maximize their distance and consistency. Titleist TSR Drivers provide a wide range of performance solutions:
- TSR1 is your driver if you have a moderate swing speed and a lightweight build helps you maximize your speed while increasing your launch angle for more distance. Based on Titleist Fitting optimizations, we’ve found that TSR1 is an excellent product for a high percentage of female golfers.
- TSR2 is your driver if you need a total combination of maximum forgiveness, high launch and low spin for maximum distance. This is a popular product for female golfers with higher swing speeds at Titleist Fittings.
- TSR3 is your driver if you need to be able to adjust the center of gravity to control your right-left dispersion and increase your speed to provide you with a great combination of distance and accuracy.
- TSR4 is your driver if you need lower spin to maximize your distance.
I seem to struggle with hitting my 4 & 5 iron. What are some alternatives I can put in the bag that are easier to hit?
Easy-to-launch and ultra-forgiving, both hybrids and higher lofted fairway metals are great options for long iron replacements. Since every golfer’s swing is different, it’s vital to make sure the top of your bag is dialed in with a fitting to optimize your game.
What’s the difference between Pro V1 and Pro V1x and how those differences have changed in the past few years?
This is a question that comes up all the time in our golf ball fitting. The differences between Pro V1, Pro V1x, and AVX can be boiled down to flight, spin, and feel. Pro V1 delivers optimal flight (a penetrating flight) and spin for most golfers with a very soft feel. Compared to Pro V1, Pro V1x will fly higher, spin more through the bag, and feel firmer. Compared to Pro V1, AVX will fly lower, spin less through the bag, and feel softer. This flight, spin, and feel relationship between Pro V1 and Pro V1x has been the case since the 2017 generation of these models and we don't anticipate this relationship changing moving forward.
What’s the recommended golf ball for high handicap/casual golfers?
Beyond which specific model may be best for your specific golf game, it is important to understand the importance of playing one golf ball model consistently. Every golf ball is designed to perform differently. Additionally, you will see significant differences in terms of quality from manufacturer to manufacturer.
The best advice if you are fairly new to the game is to find a golf ball that you like in terms of performance and feel, and commit to playing that golf ball exclusively. Shot after shot, round after round. Golf is a tricky enough game without introducing unnecessary variables into the equation. Eliminate one of those variables by selecting one ball you like and sticking with it. Using the same model golf ball on every shot of every round eliminates performance variation, builds confidence and consistency, and will ultimately lead to you shooting lower scores.
